Chapter Update Letter

Dear ASTDLI Members and Guests,

Welcome to ASTD Long Island Chapter, the organization dedicated to serving the training and performance improvement professionals of Long Island. If you are new to the site or a returning member, thank you for visiting. The Board of ASTD LI is proud to update you on recent chapter events and what is coming up.

Upcoming Meetings

November 8 - Nancy Brennan is running a workshop on Dealing with Disruptive Participants.  This is a topic that every trainer, manager and teacher should reflect on at least once a year. We all know intuitively what to do and how to handle the disrupters but it is always refreshing to hear how someone else has been successful. It is also good to learn that it is not "you" !

December 13 - Alyse Parise is running a workshop on What Motivates You (and everyone else). This is going to be a great session to end the year. Knowing your primary motivators helps you improve your relationships, choose more satisfying activities, be successful and happy.

We hope to see members and guests at these informative networking meetings. Click on the Meetings link on the left to register.

Recent Meetings
We had three terrific meetings already this fall. In September, Agnes Czuchlewski gave a very informative presentation on how to communicate with the different generations in the workplace. She related it to training and managing others and it was quite eye opening.

In October we had two meetings. Mary Speed Perri presented at our evening meeting on how our personalities impact our interactions and gave a great overview of MBTI. Last week, Bart DiVita presented at our breakfast meeting and filled us in on everything trainers and educators should know about copyright and trademark laws.

If you would like additional information or to follow up with any of our presenters to date, please let us know.

Other Chapter Initiatives
Our web site will change in the next few weeks. As part of the enhancements we will have different links and new information available to our members. There will be advertising opportunities as well. Watch for the announcement.

When the new web site is up and running there will be a link to our 2006 - 2007 Member Survey. I hope all of our members complete the survey so we can continually work to make the ASTD Long Island Chapter YOUR organization for development and networking.

If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact your board members.
I hope to see you all soon.

Sincerely,
Linda Berke, ASTD LI Chapter President
